Studio Set-up :
Get expert advice on everything for your studio and music, the best use of equipment, software and computers.
Home and studio visits can be arranged to advise on today’s many options available for producing top class recordings, whether on a low or high budget. If you are just starting out, or wanting to get serious with music production, we can take care of all things necessary.
We can advise you on room layouts, acoustic treatment, mixing desks, computers, software and options, soundcards/interfaces, midi, monitors/placement, how to wire patchbays and make the right digital connections.
w i r i n g:
The way you wire your studio, affects the way you work and the quality of music production. Get it wrong and hours can be wasted messing about trying to correct allsorts of problems, often not knowing where to start and frequently looking in the wrong place.
Then of course there’s Digital, wonderful for keeping the signal path pure. The reality though is often, “Snap Crackle and Pop”, we enjoy cereal but not all over our music. We can deal with: ADAT, TDIF, S/PDIF, AES/EBU and WORDCLOCK digital connections. Use of the best quality cabling and plugs to suit your budget to ensure trouble free operation. All wiring looms and cables are made to measure to minimise sonic loss and for best economy.
Somewhere to put, arrange and connect your computers, and equipment is important, get it right and you provide yourself with an ergonomic dream where your writing recording and mastering environment will be free of the distractions of clutter, mess and unfathomable wiring snake-pitts!

It could be said, that the advent of today’s powerful computers has made quality music production possible for us all.
Although the power of the computer has made it possible, creative input from the user is absolutely necessary.
This power that we potentially harbour within our computers can be an extremely hard beast to understand and tame.
One way is, not to expect too many roles from it. Keeping it just for the one purpose of making fab music, will make things easier.
But not everyone can afford the luxury of two computers – one for music and one for general use. Nor want the noise or considerable heat of two computers.
The answer is to configure a dual boot system, that on start up gives you a choice of "music", or "general" use and we only charge around £90 for this service.
Most usefully, a music only partition allows a minimalist system, with all unnecessary services, options and graphic wastes of power to be turned off, allowing maximum power for music making – and this does give you more options with more power. Allowing the use of more FX and VST instruments, and a smoother running, and more stable music computer.
Then the problem of backing up your fab and carefully crafted tunes? This can be taken care of by multiple hard drives and/or partitioning the drives (installing and partitioning drives from £45).
Also we have practical and inexpensive solutions for dealing with the problems of noise and heat from your powerful computer.

Choosing the right monitors for your space is important. You will have to rely on them to accurately convey all the details of your mix, otherwise you will end up with a horrible mush of sound, which will sound different wherever it is replayed! From the huge array of available options, it is necessary to audition as many monitor’s as you can in your chosen price range. But even then it can be difficult to decide, and too easy to make a wrong selection!
But even with the most expensive monitors available, it will still be difficult to accurately judge the levels, equalisation and depth of your tracks.
The room you mix in needs to be analysed and quantified. To identify where acoustic problems and wall/ceiling reflection will occur, which will all conspire to cloud your judgment on the sonic situation within the mix.
We can be commissioned to accurately analyse the acoustics of your music production room and then provide you with a plan to effectively 'flatten' the frequency response of the room. Of course if you prefer we can carry out all work and installation of acoustic treatment including bass traps.
We can supply wall/ceiling treatment and bass trapping as is required, to provide a much improved and accurate listening environment.

With more than just a few pieces of outboard equipment at your disposal, it helps enormously to have the utmost flexibility in your studio, to achieve the best and most flexible system.
Without the benefit of a well-wired patchbay, opportunities to flexibly connect and extract the most use from your gear will be lost.
We can design, fit and wire a patchbay system that will allow you the most options to connect up your computer interfaces, mixers, compressors, equalisers, FX, keyboards and guitars.
